Hermès has long taken inspiration from the equestrian world, and the Tablier Sellier bag continues that lineage. This time, the focus shifts to the saddler artisans of Faubourg Saint-Honoré. Translating to ‘saddler’s apron’, the bag borrows directly from their protective leather garments. As a result, craft becomes the starting point, not decoration.
Then comes the design sleight of hand. The apron’s neckband transforms into elongated handles, light yet purposeful. Meanwhile, leather ties secure the sides, finishing with an Etriviere buckle. Altogether, it feels like a feat of sartorial alchemy, refined through function.

The Hunter cowhide exterior acts as a protective shell for the removable canvas pouch within. This layered construction mirrors the saddler’s own methodical workflow. Instead of a zip, the Tablier Sellier utilises the Clou de Selle closure that opens upward. At almost a 90-degree angle, it slides through the dedicated leather cut-out, working neatly like a cufflink.
Quietly confident, this relatively under-the-radar style whispers rather than shouts. Clean lines meet lightweight construction, making it a favourite amongst those in the know. Four base studs add a defensive element, ensuring the leather remains pristine during daily use. Finally, the bag wears easily over the shoulder, thanks to its generous handle drop.
Although removable, the Militaire canvas pouch works best inside, shaping the bag and holding essentials. Without loud logos, Hermès lets the clean silhouette speaks instead. Offered in Ebene, Gold and Noir, the Tablier Sellier lets you carry a piece of the saddler’s soul, wherever you go.
