Beyond bags, jewellery, ready-to-wear and shoes, designer houses have entered the dining room. Some of your favourite luxury brands are putting their design DNA onto exquisite plates and cups, which you can procure whole sets of or just mix and match. For starters, here are four designer tableware collections worth a place on any table.
01 - Dior Dioriviera, from SGD500
Firstly, Dior Maison’s Dioriviera collection channels the same sun-drenched holiday mood that defines the label’s beach capsule. This time, though, it translates into ceramic and glassware. The line leans on the maison’s most recognisable codes, with the standout being the newly launched Dior Arabesque dinnerware.
The motif, featuring surrealist floral bouquets, draws on the work of artist Christian Bérard. A central design element further recalls the Dior Médaillon. Besides plates in varying sizes and matching mugs, the collection includes placemats that cover the full anatomy of a place setting. DIOR
02 - Hermès Mosaïque au 24, from SGD175
If Dior and Louis Vuitton lean into bold illustrations, Hermès plays it architectural. Mosaïque au 24, the house’s longest-running dinnerware line, draws inspiration from the historic 24 Faubourg Saint-Honoré flagship. Borrowing the pattern from its sandstone mosaic floor, the line comes in two finishes.
Mosaïque au 24 Gold reproduces the boutique’s original ochre-and-grey colour scheme. Meanwhile, Mosaïque au 24 Platinum offers a cooler reworking in white and silver, in a nod to Art Deco and Greek classicist roots. Both finishes span an enormous range, from plates and serving platters to teapots and sugar bowls. There’s even a teeny-tiny circular soy dish. HERMÈS
03 - Louis Vuitton Tropical Jungle, from SGD475
Then over at Louis Vuitton, the Art of Dining line takes a more literal approach to escapism. The new Tropical Jungle collection sits alongside classic Louis Vuitton tableware lines such as Asnières and Monogram Flower Tile.
What ties Tropical Jungle to the rest of the house’s tableware family is a shared instinct that pattern indeed leads the narrative. Think porcelain dinnerware built around lush, botanical illustrations across presentation plates, dinner plates, and smaller bread and dessert plates. Each piece sells as a set of two. LOUIS VUITTON
04 - Tiffany & Co. Tiffany Toile, from SGD120
Lastly, Tiffany’s offerings come in bone china, each depicting a unique toile print designed as a love letter to New York. Based on an archival illustration, the pattern brings together landmarks and icons. The Brooklyn Bridge sits beside the Bird on a Rock brooch, while the Statue of Liberty shares space with an illustrated Tiffany diamond.
The dessert plates, sold in a set of six, are where the concept fully clicks. Each plate comes in a different colour from the brand’s gemstone vocabulary: yellow diamond, morganite, kunzite, sapphire, tsavorite and of course, Tiffany Blue. A hand-painted black rim borders each one, keeping the whimsy grounded. TIFFANY & CO.
