Just when you think Loewe could not get any quirkier, Spanish fashion house Loewe raises the bar. The new Whisker bag arrives with a slouchy aesthetic and zipper pulls that dangle like overextended tassels. Or rather, whiskers, which explains the name.
The playful bag first appeared on the runway as part of Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez’s sophomore collection. The overall silhouette is loose and unbothered, refusing to stay either rigid or boxy. Still, the bag does not entirely abandon Loewe’s design DNA; it simply loosens its grip on traditional house codes.
Currently available in just the small size, the Whisker bag measures 25.5 cm wide by 14 cm high. An oversized top handle, combined with a detachable sling, lets the bag slide from hand-carry to shoulder to crossbody. Whimsical design, in other words, without sacrificing wearability.

Loewe offers two material options. Firstly, the glossy, glazed calfskin (SGD4550) is the classic standout. It comes in Black, Carmine Red, Cognac and a buttery yellow finish called Vanilla. For a cheekier twist, the check intarsio version (SGD6100) that features full leather marquetry rather than textile inlays is another to watch.
Whether the Whisker becomes a cult favourite remains to be seen. However, whimsy-forward pieces clearly sit at the centre of McCollough and Hernandez’s creative vision for Loewe. Fun, functional and surprisingly wearable, the Whisker does exactly what it set out to do.
