A relatively new brand emerges in the horology world with a refreshingly unique philosophy. Anoma Watches is less concerned with replicating the past, but rather more focused on the future with its contemporary timepieces. Such as the recently launched A1 Optical.

The visually striking timepiece features a rounded triangular case that builds on the foundation of its debut model, the A1. Inspired by a 1950s free-form table by architect Charlotte Perriand and the organic softness of river stones, the geometric case is a departure from conventional round, rectangular or square forms.

Another noteworthy feature of the A1 Optical lies in its dial. Designed in collaboration with optical artist Adam Fuhrer, the mesmerising surface is a study in light and distortion. Showcasing 50 offset triangles, each individually carved, sandblasted and hand-polished to create a dial that shimmers hypnotically with every movement of the wrist.

By taking bold risks and drawing inspiration from outside the world of traditional horology, Anoma creates timepieces that are not only well-crafted, but also original and deeply personal. These watches might not be for everyone, but that’s precisely the point. It’s for those who appreciate a unique perspective, especially since only 300 numbered pieces are available.

Limited to 150 pieces each for the copper or silver dial, Anoma’s A1 Optical is available for pre-orders at GBP2200. Each purchase will also come with an artwork matching the same numbered edition of your timepiece.
