This year, Ferragamo officially rolled out its rebranding initiatives with creative director Maximilian Davis. Storefronts worldwide, including Singapore, saw updates, and the sans serif FERRAGAMO typeface created by graphic designer Peter Saville replaced the previous cursive Salvatore Ferragamo logo.
And that’s not all. Meet the new bag created to honour the late Wanda Miletti Ferragamo, who passed in 2018.
An instrumental figure in the success of the Ferragamo brand, Wanda took over the reins when Salvatore Ferragamo passed away in August 1960. She then oversaw the growth of the entire company from management and finance to inventory and technical issues. Her mission was striving to push forward and maintain her husband’s legacy in the world of quality Italian goods.
Smply known as Wanda, it comes in a trapezoid silhouette with a cut-out top handle to slide your hand through. The dual Gancini fastenings are also a lovely nod to the Italian brand’s heritage. These also double up as buckles to open and close your Wanda bag. The sleek and compact design deserves major props, and it also helps that Ferragamo dressed it up in brushed calfskin for a glossy satin-like effect all over.

The Wanda Mini Top Handle is the smallest of the family, measuring 18 cm by 18 cm. It comes in Black, Optical White and Sky Blue, priced at SGD2650 each. If mini isn’t your thing, go for the original Wanda Top Handle (SGD4390) instead. Coming in a bigger 35 cm by 29 cm size, you can choose between solid black and orange ombré. Each pairs with gold-tone and silver-tone hardware respectively.
Maximilian Davis has also gone out of the box (quite literally) with an elongated version measuring 37 cm wide and 20 cm high. Consider the Wanda East-West Top Handle (SGD3650) an avant-garde version of the trapezoid handbag. While one can’t help but draw comparisons to a loaf of bread, this horizontal style still falls in with Ferragamo’s design ethos.
The perfect homage to Wanda Miletti Ferragamo, this top-handle style takes centrestage at Ferragamo today.
