Not every model can be a ‘panda’ simply because it comes in black and white. It needs to be a specific combination with defined black counters that bring to mind little panda eyes. And that is why Vacheron Constantin’s latest iteration of the Overseas Chronograph ranks high on the desirability factor.
Part of the Swiss luxury watchmaker’s new-in 2023 novelties, its aesthetic dates back to the motorsports-dedicated timepieces of the 60's. Sporting a silver-tone sunburst satin-finish dial with 18K white gold hour markers, the ‘panda’ style isn’t just about its cheeky good looks.

Each counter, positioned neatly at the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock markers, also fulfils a specific function. To start, stop and reset the chronograph function, simply engage the signature Maltese cross-shape screw. The two-tone Overseas Chronograph gets its power from the in-house self-winding Calibre 5200 movement.
Then there are the three interchangeable straps for added interest. There isn’t a need for intricate tools handled by expert personnel, because the reworked system makes switching straps a cinch. Aside from the original stainless steel bracelet, the Overseas Chronograph also comes with a calf leather strap, as well as a sporty black rubber version that is also sweat-resistant.
The Overseas Chronograph’s 42.5 mm diameter case also sits nicely on most wrists. Other impressive elements include the anti-magnetic soft iron ring and transparent sapphire crystal caseback. It is water-resistant up to 150 metres too.
Retailing at SGD46,500 inclusive of taxes, the ‘Panda’ Overseas Chronograph timepiece is now available via Vacheron Constantin boutiques in ION Orchard and Marina Bay Sands for you to take a closer look.
