Decidedly French with the right balance of elegance and style, Cartier’s updated Tank Française made its debut earlier this year. For the uninitiated, the Tank Française made waves in 1996 as the first Tank timepiece with a metal bracelet. Ever since, leather straps and the Tank Française are like never the twain shall meet. And this remains true for the new line of Tank Française models.Strap aside, the new models do offer several tweaks.
Firstly, in the form of a brushed satin-finish treatment on the bracelet and case (instead of the shiny polished OG). 2023 also sees the reintroduction of the streamlined silhouette with seven references in steel and yellow gold. Other updates include slightly raised numerals (no longer printed) on the dial that give it a 3D-like effect. The integrated crown is another nice touch, alongside steel models that sport a silver dial, while the full yellow gold pairs with champagne.
Good looks aside, look to the Large Tank Française, which features some of the more highly anticipated changes. It not only houses a mechanical movement with automatic winding, but the Caliber 1853 MC also packs a power reserve of 37 hours. Furthermore, it’s currently the only model in the Tank Française family with a date function at the 3 o’clock position.
At SGD7700, this is an ideal option for those who appreciate the stylish looks of the Tank Française but always wished it came with a mechanical movement. The other quartz models start from SGD4950 for the small and SGD6300 for the medium in stainless steel.
Finally, the Tank Française welcomes 18K yellow gold (including the bracelets) timepieces in small (SGD29,700) and medium (SGD34,600). Those who love a head-turner may prefer small with diamonds (SGD39,200) or medium with diamonds (SGD43,600). All in all, 7 different styles that are tanked up on good looks, elegance and style.
