Far from the polished, logo-heavy It-bags of the early 2000s, Mulberry’s Roxanne, introduced in 2004, was pure rock-and-roll chaos. With its slouchy silhouette, large patch pockets and a wild mix of brass buckles and rivets (62, to be exact), it was unapologetically heavy yet gloriously cool. Loved by then-style insurgents like Kate Moss and Alexa Chung, the cult classic weighed 1.4 kg even empty.
Fast forward to 2025, and Mulberry gives the symbol of bohemian rebellion a modern rebirth. The signature brass buckles and belted centre remain, but the bag now boasts a sleeker, lighter and more wearable frame. This grown-up streamlined sister comes in mini and small sizes, each with a removable shoulder strap for hands-free crossbody wear.
Another two new iterations join the family, both boxier styles that come without dual top handles or the belted centre. The Roxanne Shoulder Bag reinterprets the icon as a hobo, while the Mini Roxanne Shoulder Bag becomes a compact purse for the grab-and-go.
Fronted by Cynthia Erivo and shot by Tim Walker, the relaunch campaign is nothing less than a spectacle. Erivo, a Tony, Emmy and Grammy winner, grounds the surreal visuals with her authentic British connection to the brand. In an era rediscovering Y2K favourites like Balenciaga’s City and Chloé’s Paddington, Mulberry’s Roxanne returns as arguably the most charmingly rebellious of them all.
