The Loewe Foundation Craft Prize is making a historic debut in Singapore, marking the first time the international award is presented in Southeast Asia. Since its launch in 2016, the prize has celebrated talent and innovation in modern craft. It honours artists who push material boundaries while staying deeply rooted in culture and technique.

Indeed, the sheer scale of the award continues to impress. The 2025 edition drew over 4,600 submissions from 133 countries and regions. This wide-ranging participation further proves that the shortlist represents a truly global cross-section of artistic excellence.

For 2026, it welcomes fresh perspectives through the new jury. Kunimasa Aoki, winner of the 2025 edition, joins Loewe’s new creative directors, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. Together, they’ll guide the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize’s evolving dialogue between tradition and contemporary design.

Come spring 2026, Singapore will host the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize exhibition. Information on the location and ceremony will be revealed in due course. Open to anyone over 18 working in a craft-based profession, the prize awards EUR50,000 to the winner, as well as EUR5000 each to two special mentions.

Beyond the core mission of acknowledging and supporting international artists, having Singapore host the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize is an exciting signal that the future of modern craft truly transcends geographical boundaries.
