Ferragamo takes its Hug Bag, already a modern signature for the house, and turns it on its side. Launching for pre-fall 2026, the Hug East-West looks poised to be its most confident version yet. If you know the original, you know its whole identity is built on that name. Think of a soft silhouette, with straps that wrap from the sides towards the front, like embracing arms. The horizontal version keeps that emotional core fully intact.
What changes, instead, is the geometry. Where the original Hug stays mostly trapezoidal with a short top handle, this version elongates into a boxy horizontal rectangle. With a 23 cm drop length, the handle now sits tall enough to slide comfortably over a shoulder or wrist. That also gives the bag an easy, hands-free versatility the original doesn’t quite offer.
The Hug East-West launches in four colours: deep black, olive green, rust brown and soft taupe. The lineup skews firmly toward neutral tones. Available in one size for now, it measures 32 cm wide and 14.5 cm high. A single top-zip closure secures the interior, thus making it practical for a day out without worrying about essentials falling out.
There’s a good reason so many fashion houses are stretching their signature shapes horizontally right now. The elongated silhouette reads as effortless in a way a boxier bag rarely does. It sits differently against the body and also catches the eye differently in photos. Somehow, it even manages to look both more minimal and more directional at once.
Ferragamo leans into that shift with restraint. The Hug East-West proves you don’t need to reinvent a bag to make it feel new. Sometimes, all you need to do is change its angle.
