Celine’s Luggage was one of the quintessential It bags of the early 2010s, a go-to style for all seeking an understated, almost logo-less, handbag. Now, under the watchful eye of Michael Rider, the cult classic returns as the Smiling New Luggage, reigniting what it means to carry a piece of design history into a brand new era.

The bag’s core DNA is unmistakably present in the iconic front zip pocket, winged sides and wavy piping. But it also incorporates subtle changes, such as the east-west construction instead of its original trapezoidal proportions. Its new eye-catching flap further adds a secondary layer of security for your bag.

While the world celebrated the structured form and crisp lines of the OG, this promises a different tactile experience. This supple, shiny lambskin iteration in either black or deep brown isn’t meant to sit rigidly on a table. The Smiling New Luggage will, in fact, soften with use and develop a patina over time.

The medium (SGD5900) measures 36 cm by 22 cm and will fit daily items, including a 13-inch MacBook. Whereas the large (SGD7100) comes in at 44 cm by 27 cm, making an excellent choice for weekends or travels. A removable and adjustable leather strap also lets you carry it by hand, over the shoulder or crossbody.

Set to be launched on 26 September, both sizes sees the zipper curving upwards to form a smile. Celine’s Smiling New Luggage is not merely smiling; it’s winking at the past while confidently stepping into the future.
