A hundred years of craftsmanship is no small feat. The Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy surely agree, because they have released a special postage stamp to commemorate Fendi’s 100th anniversary.

The keepsake stamp, just like Fendi’s creations, is very much a timeless tradition with modern appeal. It is also part of ‘le Eccellenze del sistema produttivo ed economico’ (the Excellence of the productive and economic system). This initiative acknowledges Italian brands on their centenary for the significant role they play in the Italian economy, as well as in promoting the ‘Made in Italy’ hallmark.

So, what does this collectible piece of history look like? The too-pretty-to-use stamp combines iconic symbols of the Italian fashion house in its signature yellow. These include a reinterpretation of the FENDI ROMA logo, a number one and infinity symbol. Alongside is the distinctive FF logo that Karl Lagerfeld designed in 1965 upon his appointment as creative director, of course.

The miniature work of art is presented in an exclusive four-flap, philatelic A4 folder. Each showcases the signature of Fendi’s artistic director of accessories and menswear, Silvia Venturini Fendi. The folder also contains a block of four stamps, a postcard, a first-day envelope and a philatelic card.

If you’re in Italy or travelling there anytime soon, check out Fendi’s commemorative stamp and associated merchandise at Poste Italiane throughout the country. Besides post offices, you’ll find them online for subscribers, as well as in selected philatelic spaces in the historical centre of major Italian cities.
