A year ago, Chanel unveiled its most luxurious lipstick, 31 Le Rouge. Named after 31 Rue Cambon, the iconic address of the birthplace of Chanel, the collection comprised 12 long-wearing satin shades. Each was presented in an exquisite faceted glass case referencing the mirrors lining the iconic Rue Cambon staircase.

A year on, the 31 Le Rouge lipstick collection is expanding to include a new matte finish. It reconciles radiance with a velvet effect, while simultaneously offering pure, intense colour and lip care benefits. The new finish can be enjoyed in 12 exclusive shades inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s creations, ateliers and storied apartment.
For example, Rouge N°5 is named for the jasmine fragrance that warms the legendary address, while Rouge Tweed pays tribute to the iconic tweed design displayed there. There’s also Rouge Couturière that evokes the couture creation tools in the third-floor workshops. Then there’s Rouge Intimiste, which reflects the intimate setting of Mademoiselle’s apartment.
Alluring shades aside, the 31 Le Rouge matte bullet also dons an elegant woven fabric motif. Upon it is an embossing of the letters of Chanel, thus setting it apart from its satin-finish sister.
The 31 Le Rouge matte lipstick (SGD230) and refills (SGD105 each) are now available at Chanel’s Fragrance & Beauty boutiques and online via the e-store, before they launch at Chanel’s Fragrance & Beauty counter in Takashimaya Department Store on 6 September.
