Polène Paris is probably most loved for its minimalist leather bags. But beyond that, the Parisian label also has a selection of exclusive designs that exemplify its commitment to creativity and craftsmanship. Enter the Pai, its latest limited-edition bag that dials up the whimsy.
A tribute to the bag’s botanical inspiration, its name originates from the French word ‘paille’, which translates to ‘straw’. Reminiscent of a straw bale one might find in the fields, the quirky design is crafted from certified organic raffia stalks bound by two cognac leather straps.
Underneath, drawing inspiration from luggage-making techniques, is a wooden case that serves as its body. The Pai opens like a clutch via a stealth magnetic closure. Within, smooth leather topstitched with plant fibre line the interior and patch pocket.
Measuring 26 cm by 15 cm by 7.5 cm, it’s not only perfect for toting daily essentials. It will also make an adorable companion on a weekend getaway. Thanks to the accompanying double strap, you can wear it either short as a shoulder bag or long as a crossbody. The contemporary and whimsical style proves raffia isn’t just reserved for the beach.
The Pai is retailing at USD790 on the Polène Paris online store, which offers worldwide shipping from USD25. There are only 200 pieces available, so you know what to do if you would like this quirky bale of straw that’s also a bag.
