Welcome to #BEBEinsider, a series where friends share what beauty products they’re really loving. Larry Yeo, a makeup artist with over 20 years of experience, recently teamed up with local beauty brand 13rushes to create 13LY, a collection of five essential and multipurpose brushes designed for maximum versatility. In this instalment, the award-winning makeup artist shares the five beauty must-haves he can’t get enough of.
01 - Cartier Baiser Volé Parfum, from SGD108 for 30 ML
“I fell in love with this fragrance when I judged it for two beauty awards back in 2022. Since then, it has become one of my fragrance staples. The poised and elegant white floral scent has delicate notes of lily and sweet tonka bean that wears with a soft spicy dry down on my skin.
It is a female fragrance but is so versatile and wears beautifully on my skin. It lasts well in Singapore’s humidity but for an even longer sillage, I like to spray it both on my pulse points and on my clothes for a multi-layering effect.” CARTIER
02 - Estée Lauder Re-Nutriv Ultimate Diamond Transformative Brilliance Serum, SGD428 for 30 ML
“When I don’t get enough rest, my skin gets dehydrated and easily irritated. For times like this, I always use a booster to awaken, hydrate and soothe my skin. I’ve been turning to this all-rounder serum to do so. It improves my skin condition and speeds up its healing ability.
I use this serum right after I apply toner twice, just to get my skin to the right suppleness. This allows the serum to spread nicely. I also apply a bit more of the serum under my eye area, which helps with my tired skin.” ESTÉE LAUDER
03 - Gucci Beauty Brume De Beaute Glow Hydrating Mist, SGD130 for 80 ML
“This is the best makeup setting spray ever! When Gucci Beauty launched its makeup line, I tested everything out and this mist took me by surprise. It’s a well-formulated spray mist with a mix of film-forming agents that just grip and hold on to the makeup to ensure your makeup stays on for hours, even in our humidity and through sweat.
I also geek out about its spray bottle that consistently dispenses the perfect mist. Everything from the spray mechanism to the pipe that goes into the low-viscosity formula has been carefully calculated. To apply, I hold it about 20 cm to 30 cm away from the face before spraying it on in an asterisk shape. This ensures the mist spreads evenly and skin is well-coated.” GUCCI
04 - Jungsaemmool Artist Eye Palette, SGD52
“I first discovered eyeshadows from this brand when a friend bought it for me from Seoul years ago. Then the recent opening of Jungsaemool’s first global flagship store in Singapore introduced me to this particular palette. There are three eyeshadow palettes (Red Brown, Orange Brown and Yellow Brown) to choose from, each designed to match cool, warm or neutral eye tones.
Compared to the typical K-beauty brands, I find these eyeshadow colours to be consistent and very pigmented so you can always layer on as and when you need to achieve the desired effect. It’s also a great multitasker as the bigger panels of colour can be used on the cheeks as a blusher or highlighter.” JSM BEAUTY
05 - Pat McGrath Labs Intensifeyes Longwear Primer, SGD52
“This cream eyeshadow primer has such a stunning texture. I love it so much I always buy more to ensure I never run out. It has a clear finish to boost eyeshadow colour and has a good grip so even other types of eye makeup won’t crease or smudge.
For stay-in-place eye looks, I swipe a good amount of the product on the back of my hand and apply a thin layer from the lash line to the eyebrows using my fingertips. I also like to mix this with silicone-based eye makeup, like brow pomade, gel liners and cream eyeshadows, to prolong the play time so I have more time to work with the products.” PAT MCGRATH
