To start 2025 with a bang, Balenciaga goes all out with a fresh new pair of kicks. Moving away from the typical athletic sneakers, it's a conceptual exploration that merges the familiar with the unexpected. The name Monday itself hints at the shoe’s intended purpose for everyday wear, and it’s also Balenciaga’s first foray into an all-leather hybrid shoe.
This effectively means a plush leather upper sitting atop an ultra-lightweight technical rubber sole, offering comfort and style in one. The leather upper is anything but ordinary, complete with raw edges, visible stitching and intentionally distressed elements that create the illusion of a well-worn favourite. Exposed stitching further emphasises the deconstructed look, highlighting its artisanal qualities characteristic of a Balenciaga creation by Demna.

Recently spotted on brand ambassador PP Krit, the Monday also incorporates the rubber 3B sports icon signature, a subtle nod to Balenciaga’s recurring DIY aesthetic. The 3B sports icon is also debossed on the shoe tongue, while other motifs like the Balenciaga logo embossed on the exterior and insole further emphasise the codes of the French fashion house.
Arriving just in time for the Lunar New Year festivities, the new footwear is priced at SGD1400 with sizes for men and women. Currently available in black and white, other colours like blue, pink and yellow are in the pipeline for subsequent launches.
Whether you’re drawn to its aesthetic, interesting blend of materials or its subtle nod to Balenciaga’s signature boldness, the Monday is sure to turn heads and spark conversations.
