Not too long ago, handbags revolved around clean lines and minimalist design. After all, ‘stealth wealth’ and the ‘old money aesthetic’ dominated the spotlight. But now, a new era is taking hold. Bags are becoming canvases for personality, often adorned with playful charms and unique accessories. Leading this joyful wave are Coach’s miniature book charms, each a tiny celebration of self-expression.
As books increasingly live on a Kindle or phone screen, these tiny volumes feel like a charming rebellion. Bringing back tactile nostalgia, each charm features real, turnable pages that invite you to physically hold and flip through. Meanwhile, a coloured leather tag stamped with the COACH label and a gold-tone lobster clasp lets you attach it to your favourite bag.
And yes, if you squint hard enough, you can actually read the pages. Titles such as I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou and Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng appear amongst the selection. These decorative bag charms are genuinely readable, perfect for channelling a little performative literacy during bus or train commutes.
The story, however, is just beginning. The full collection of charms is slated to launch sometime in March 2026. Coach has confirmed that selected pieces will be available locally, although exact prices remain unknown. For reference, they retail at USD95 elsewhere, so you can take that as a rough estimate.
