Max Mara continues to expand its bag offerings with the introduction of the LeatherCube for spring-summer 2024. As its name suggests, the bag comes in a geometric shape softened by inviting curves to create an irresistible tactile experience. Rich, burnished leather boasting a luminous patina paired with discreet hardware strikes the perfect balance between simplicity and sophistication.
This unique creation is a testament to both heritage and innovation, and Max Mara designers collaborated with skilled Tuscan artisans to bring their shared vision to fruition. Firstly, the bag uses only the finest Italian calfskin. After stringent quality checks, the leather undergoes an age-old vegetable-tanning technique utilising the bark of birch, chestnut and oak trees.
Then as the design takes inspiration from jewel boxes, the artisans craft each LeatherCube around wooden moulds by hand. This requires 30 different steps, including soaking, shaping, heating and trimming, before the leather attains its desired form.
Finally, a wax application ensures that it achieves that beautiful lustre that deepens with age, resulting in a cherishable heirloom. Indeed, the bag not only commands attention on the runway but also transcends trends with enduring elegance. Each piece also carries its own identifying number as a mark of its individuality.
In Singapore, the LeatherCube will come in at SGD1959 and SGD2059 for the small and medium sizes respectively.
