One of Louis Vuitton’s earliest handbag styles, the iconic Alma got its name from the Place de l’Alma in Paris. Since then, it has consistently been the subject of countless reinterpretations, appearing in myriad colours and sizes.

This season, it returns in the form of the Alma Travel GM, an oversized format for men. After its launch during the peak of the Art Deco movement in 1934, the original Alma kept rising in popularity.

Over the years, it graced the arms of fashion’s finest, such as Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly and Jackie Kennedy. The well-rounded style was also the subject of several big-name collaborations, including with the likes of Murakami and Stephen Sprouse.

In its latest incarnation, the Alma Travel GM is touted as a functional, overnight travel bag. Each piece measures 64 cm wide and 42 cm high, making it one of the biggest Alma bags created yet. You can either carry it by sliding your palm under its base or simply use it as a tote.

Alternatively, if you prefer going hands-free, the accompanying Bandoulière in jacquard fabric will come in useful. In Cognac and Vermillion Red in Epi XL grained leather, the bag promises to make a statement wherever you go. In one corner, a contrasting Louis Vuitton logo in a bold white font further amplifies its appeal. And as with most Louis Vuitton travel bags, it also comes with its own set of accessories.

This comprises a key bell, LV lock and removable name tag. Currently retailing SGD6700, the capacious Alma Travel GM is only available in Epi XL, at least for now. So you get to choose between a vibrant red and a rich brown hue; which will it be for you?
