It’s been almost 10 years since Nicolas Ghesquière took on the role of artistic director at Louis Vuitton. Always designing with today’s contemporary woman in mind, his vision for the brand encompasses innovative ready-to-wear and bags. Which brings us to the enigmatic GO-14.

Code for ‘Ghesquière October 2014’, this is a reimagining of one of his debut designs for the maison. You may remember the criss-cross pattern from signature hard-sided trunks, that take inspiration from the malletage design synonymous with trunk-making. This year, it comes in an entirely new padded lambskin finish.

The 'cushiony' GO-14 requires over 20 different steps to craft. A new groove mechanism doubles the jewel chain for a short over-the-shoulder style. The larger sizes also come with an additional top handle, further adding to the design’s versatility.

Finishing touches include the LV twist-lock, as well as the sheep leather lining that keeps it precious inside and out. The padded malletage on the Blue Marine and Tan pieces also receive a unique patina effect. Standard iterations in Noir and White make up the selection of colours that are currently available.

For now, you can only purchase the bag in-store, with three sizes starting from the 15 cm by 10 cm Pico GO-14 (SGD6150). The GO-14 MM (SGD9650) comes in at 23 cm by 16 cm, while the GO-14 GM (SGD10,400) measures 31 cm wide and 19.5 cm high.

Standing by its commitment to craftsmanship, Louis Vuitton offers a service to repair and restore any GO-14 bag for life.
