If you believe in good luck charms, their importance requires no explanation. Gabrielle Chanel, too, relied on her share of symbols to shape her destiny. These talismans, including the camellia, chain, comet, lion and pearls, eventually became emblematic codes of the house. Chanel now brings more radiance and good fortune to its wearer with the latest Les Symboles de Chanel collection.

The line-up features five Maxi Poudre Illuminatrice. These oversized illuminating powders each showcase an embossing of an iconic symbol of the house. Firstly, the perfectly symmetrical La Camèlia, a symbol of harmony. Embodying steadfast beauty, the camellia that dandies typically wore on the lapels of their jackets became Mademoiselle’s emblem in 1913.

Next, Les Chaînes, a symbol of style. By adding a chain to her bags, Chanel essentially broke the rules of her era. She also tucked them into the lining of her jackets to create structure and a perfect fit. Then comes La Comète, a symbol of luck that recalls Chanel’s first high jewellery collection in 1932. Gabrielle loved surrounding herself with comets, and wanted to cover women in constellations.

The fourth is Le Lion, a symbol of strength, as well as the animal representing Gabrielle’s zodiac sign. Last but not least, Les Pearles, a symbol of radiance. Because Mademoiselle was never without her string of pearls to illuminate the complexion.

Whichever symbol you choose, the highlighters come in a choice of three shades: Pearly White, Precious Coral and Warm Gold. Priced at SGD144 each, the Les Symboles de Chanel Maxi Poudre Illuminatrice is now available at Chanel's Fragrance & Beauty boutiques and online via the official store. Which lucky charm will it be for you?
