1924 was the year Gabrielle Chanel created her first lipstick. That powerful red bullet, in a hue that exemplifies the maison’s passion for colour, has since been reinvented in myriad shades and finishes. Fast forward to today and Chanel is taking the colour red to new heights with its Rouge Allure Velvet lipsticks.

Dreaming up a total of 20 shades of red, Chanel creates an essential collection for every mood and skin tone. You are already familiar with the existing six iconic shades. For example, 43 La Favorite (coral with fuchsia accents), 56 Rouge Charnel (a true red) and 62 Libre (soft rosewood). Now meet 14 all-new but no less rich colour variations.

Presented in the recognisable sleek black click-case with gold tube, the new shades range from delicate rosewood and bright coral to intense crimson and sexy scarlet. Each embodies the maison’s vision of a singular and plural red, one that is both delicate and bold.

All shades come in the long-wearing and luminous matte Rouge Allure Velvet formula. In other words, expect to drench the curves of your pout in highly pigmented colour in a single swipe. And thanks to its infusion of castor oil and shea butter, the unique formula feels as comfortable as second skin, without ever feathering.

Retailing at SGD62 each, the new Rouge Allure Velvet shades launch at Chanel’s Fragrance & Beauty boutiques and its online store from 5 January 2023, and then at counters from 9 January. Head down then to score a new lipstick for the new year.
