Sylvie’s ladylike form, grosgrain ribbon Web strap and gleaming military-inspired hardware make the shoulder bag a contemporary counterpart to spring’s decorative romance.
That one introductory line, from Gucci, pretty much sums up the Sylvie, Gucci’s Spring-Summer 2016 bag of the season. Born out of Alessandro Michele’s desire to update the famous codes of the Italian luxury house while at the same time creating something completely new, the Sylvie is many things: carefree, feminine, fun, even a little bit quirky, a bag that you can use for both day and night.
Measuring 25.5 cm by 17 cm (it only comes in one size this season), it comes with an elaborate military-inspired chain that’s placed over the contrasting webbing detailing the front flap, which is frankly quite stunning. The other unique feature of the Sylvie is her grosgrain ribbon sling, which you could say relates back to the pussy bows you’ve been seeing lots of on the RTW for both women and men.
Use the bag with the grosgrain sling, or with the additional leather sling that’s also included, the Sylvie comes in leather or exotic crocodile versions, with the ones in smooth calfskin priced at SGD3230 apiece. Act soon though if you’re keen, I hear the bag is doing really well in Singapore and pieces are limited so head down to Gucci at Marina Bay Sands, Ngee Ann City or Paragon before they are all well and truly gone.
