When Chanel launches a novelty bag, everyone sits up and takes notice. Case in point? The new Mini Van Minaudiere from #CHANELCruise that's part of the latest drop at the French fashion house. A symbol of adventure for short (or long) road trips in California, it ties back nicely to a collection that was first presented in Los Angeles.
Measuring just 16 cm across by 9.4 cm, it's also a miniature minaudiere, constructed from plexiglass that's then embellished with enamel, strass and gold-tone metal. Finished with a surfboard on the roof, it’s also how the mini bag opens. Just press down on the tab on the surfboard’s logo to make it ‘split’ in two halves and reveal the interior.

What’s more, there’s also a long leather and metal-interlaced chain, which lets you wear it over the shoulder. And when you don’t need it, it hides discreetly within the interior. The wheels actually move, and you have two different combos to choose from.
One comes complete with unicorn sparkles, while the other goes in black and white, an ode to the iconic mini vans of the 60s.
And like all Chanel's intricate minaudiere bags, it is more a collectible than anything else. And it wouldn’t look out of place between 2012’s Paris-Bombay doll bag and the lucite rocket from 2017.
