Made in Italy, each piece requires artisans to expertly assemble 36 pieces of box calfskin to form its boxy profile. Fun fact: the RL 888 is named after the Ralph Lauren women’s flagship boutique on 888 Madison Avenue. So this explains the bag’s sharp lines and bevelled corners, which are modelled after the building’s sleek architecture.

Another fun fact: the RL hardware doubles as a push-lock closure for the 22 cm by 15 cm bag. Slide the ‘L’ upwards to reveal an accordion-like interior with two distinct inner compartments. These will hold everything from a wallet and mobile phone to beauty essentials, while a small patch pocket at the back is perfect for quick-access cards.

The RL 888 Top Handle Bag in grey is exclusive to the RL 888 pop-up at Marina Bay Sands, making it the only place in Southeast Asia retailing this style, so you know what to do if you love the neutral shade. Also available are three other hues in black (with gold-tone hardware), gold and taupe. All retail at SGD3649 each.
