Commemorate 125 Years Of Rimowa With The SEIT 1898 Exhibition

Rimowa has pretty big plans to commemorate its 125th anniversary this year, starting with the SEIT 1898 exhibition. The touring exhibition will offer insights into its history and heritage since its beginnings in 1898 in Cologne, Germany.

Over 100 Rimowa cases will be on display. These include treasures from its extensive archives, as well as personal pieces from celebrity Rimowa fans the likes of Dr. Woo, Peggy Gou, Roger Federer and Sarah Andelman, who graciously loaned their cases for the exhibition.

After all, every Rimowa case has a story to tell. Marked by adventures and travels that give it a unique identity, no two pieces of luggage ever look the same. Rimowa also believes in big-name collaborations, evident in those with Dior and Off-White, for instance. Pieces from both collections will also stand proudly on display.

You will also be treated to special Rimowa ‘artefacts’, such as the Mission Impossible briefcase. Then there are the special cases for poker sets and Stradivarius violins, all of which will be present for a closer look at the touring exhibition that will be open to the public.

Rimowa’s SEIT 1898 exhibition will be making three stops around the world. The first, Tokyo, happens from 9 to 18 June at JING Harajuku in Shibuya City. Three months later, it will pop up in New York. From 8 to 17 September, it suitably coincides with New York Fashion Week (Spring-Summer 2024). The final stop sees Rimowa returning to its hometown of Cologne, Germany. There’s no sound on the official dates yet, except that it’s slated for sometime in early 2024.
