Shiseido Eudermine Activating Essence: Your Quick Refresher

As the saying goes, old is gold. A legendary beauty product that’s still thriving after more than a century? Shiseido’s Eudermine, the skincare essence that fans fondly know as Shiseido’s ‘red water’.

In fact, it was the very first product the Japanese beauty brand launched back in 1897. It takes its name from the Greek words ‘eu’ and ‘dermine’, which respectively translate to ‘good’ and ‘skin’. An apt name, because that’s exactly what the iconic softening lotion aims to deliver.

Now, the essence returns with a new revitalised formula. This is the 8th incarnation since its debut, each more potent and innovative than its predecessor. True to form, the reformulated Eudermine Activating Essence works better than before to renew skin’s clarity by moisturising, smoothing and brightening, all at once.

So what’s new? For one, the lightweight essence features an infusion of fermented kefir extract, yuzu extract and skin-conditioning 4MSK, based on ActiveRED technology. Science aside, these ingredients work together to restore skin’s health and unlock its full potential. It also features microparticles of oil, designed to penetrate deep into the skin for long-lasting moisture.

And though many refer to the lotion as red water, its original red hue has evolved over the years. Now a gentle pink, it serves as the first step of your skincare routine after cleansing. Apply the thick yet dewy essence directly to your palm or cotton pad, then spread it lightly over the face. Take in its soothing white floral scent, and tap skin continuously with your fingertips to increase blood flow.

Priced at SGD145 for 145 ml, the new Eudermine Activating Essence is now available at Shiseido boutiques and counters islandwide.

Another point worth noting? It comes in a new refillable container to reduce plastic waste. The next time you’re in need of a top-up, simply pop in for a refill (SGD122 for 145 ml) and you’re good to go.
