Balenciaga’s iconic City officially returns as the Le City First, proving that bags with timeless style will never fade. A cult-favourite circa 2001, the OG gained popularity for its slouchy silhouette, distressed leather and punk-inspired hardware. Back then, it was loved by It-girls like Kate Moss and the Olsen twins. Now, it’s back to capture the hearts of a new generation.
A slight variation on 2024’s updated Le City, the new iteration boasts a smaller footprint and somewhat more delicate slouch. While similarly crafted in Balenciaga’s signature Arena Storico lambskin, it serves as a chic accessory rather than a capacious carryall. Needless to say, this soft, aged texture will patina beautifully over the years.
Complete with brass hardware, dual braided handles and knotted leather zipper pulls, the Le City First immediately evokes early-2000s nostalgia. Also accompanying the bag is a removable and adjustable strap with a shoulder pad. Another useful element is the accompanying mirror, perfect for touch-ups on the go.
Balenciaga's Le City First is currently available in a single size, measuring 33 cm by 20 cm. You get to choose from four colours. Besides classics black and white, Granny Green and Parma Pink are ideal for those who favour a pop of colour.
