How can anyone forget the classic woven bags from Loewe? The Spanish fashion house even has a section dedicated to baskets, in materials like elephant grass, iraca palm and raffia. Taking it up another notch are the full-leather versions from Loewe’s Spring-Summer 2023 collection. Yes, these baskets feature a quirky tubular design in soft nappa lambskin.

Zoom in close and you will find individual padded leather tubes woven in place with calfskin strings. This process of filling up the tubes and constructing the bag is all done by hand. The laborious undertaking requires up to 24 hours from start to finish.

Due to its handcrafted nature, the see-through nature of Loewe’s Small Tubular Basket bag and the positioning of the tubes are also unique to each individual piece. Left completely unlined, the open tote gets the ‘LOEWE’ logo stamp at the base. A tone-on-tone calfskin Anagram charm hanging by the dual handles add the finishing touch.

Measuring 38 cm wide and 25 cm high, the Small Tubular Basket is best carried via the top handles. Alternatively, you can slide your arm through as you would a fashionable basket bag. Available in Warm Desert and Yellow, for now, it is going for SGD3850 at Loewe Singapore.
