A fun fact about Louis Vuitton’s revered trunks? Not only were they used for transporting entire wardrobes back in the day, but there were also pieces specially designed so you could carry your pets around in style.

The very first pet trunk made its debut in 1913 with mesh sides, so your curious little one would always enjoy good ventilation while travelling.

Then came the 1960s design with an open flap; it doubled up as a fancy pet bed at home if you didn’t intend on carrying it out. Marc Jacobs reinvented the style once again in 2009 when he was the Creative Director at Louis Vuitton, and you can now look forward to a brand new interpretation of the Malle Chien unveiled this year.

Embellished with hard-sided elements like the wooden slats, gold-tone S-lock and reinforced corners, this adorable trunk is more suited for use at home, and perfect for small and medium four-legged friends weighing up to 8 kg. It comes finished with a cosy lining that can easily be kept clean, thanks to its water-resistant properties.

There’s even a removable (and washable) soft trunk cushion for ultimate comfort, and each trunk also features mesh cut-outs in the classic monogram pattern for extra ventilation and facilitating peekaboo play with Buddy or Leo.

And as with everything else that commands a high level of savoir-faire at Louis Vuitton, you can customise the pet trunk to your heart’s desire, from changing the exterior to the Damier pattern and even leather, to deciding which colours you want for the interior. You just need to head down to any Louis Vuitton boutique to find out more.
