After a whirlwind weekend with the #MoonWatch collaboration between Omega and Swatch, it’s time you feast your eyes on the original (and updated) line of Omega Speedmaster timepieces newly introduced this year, with today all about the Speedmaster ’57 Calibre 9906, especially with this new collection powered by Omega’s very own Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9906.

Props must be given to Omega for pushing the boundaries in terms of colour choices, as the new Speedmaster ’57 Calibre 9906 is offered in a ‘Sandwich’ Black dial edition, along with three different styles in coloured PVD dials. This gives you a total of four timepieces that come with stainless steel bracelets or matching coloured leather straps.

The ‘Sandwich’ Black dial has recessed openwork hour markers highlighted with vintage Super-LumiNova (green emission), and the sandblasted finish is particularly stunning when you give it a close-up look.

The next three colours include Blue and Green with a sun-brushed finish, while Varnished Burgundy carries a matte tone that goes exceptionally well with the matching leather strap.

Another key highlight of this timepiece released during this year’s edition of Watches & Wonders? That would be the thinner case which comes in at slightly under 13 mm (12.99 mm, to be exact), a unique feature achieved with the manual winding movement that gives it a sleek and streamlined appeal.

The Speedmaster has always been credited with being the first watch to be worn on the moon, so it makes perfect sense that the steel bracelets are inspired by Apollo 11 and thus carry a slightly higher price due to the innate difference in material.

Priced at SGD12,200 for the steel-on-leather strap and SGD12,650 for the steel-on-steel versions, the Speedmaster 57 is part of the Novelties 2022 collection that will be available at the Omega boutiques in ION Orchard and Marina Bay Sands very soon.
