The time has come for Gucci’s beloved hobo bag to shine once again, now reimagined by Creative Director Alessandro Michele as the #GucciJackie1961, named after the original design that was made iconic by the former First Lady (and fashion icon) Jackie Kennedy. She was often seen carrying the bag wherever she went, which is why Gucci decided to rename it the Jackie over the years. The iconic silhouette has been revisited continuously over the years, available in different materials and hardware clasps ranging from the ‘pistol’ to the ‘lobster’, but nothing feels quite the same as the all-new rendition launched for Fall-Winter 2020.

The #GucciJackie1961 comes in a semi-structured half-moon shape, armed with a unique strap extender that transforms it into a shoulder or crossbody bag, as you please. Whether you’re going for the Mini, Small or Medium, each size comes with an accompanying leather strap extension, so you can attach it onto the bag’s top handle and adjust it according to the length that fits (and looks) best on you. Now, that’s versatility like never before, with the clever update giving the #GucciJackie1961 extra points in terms of function and style.

Gucci has also designed the #GucciJackie1961 to be worn by both men and women, so be prepared to spot it on some of fashion’s coolest individuals, including yourself if you manage to decide on the size, material and colour when you drop by the Gucci boutique to view them in person. If you need a quick recap of the dimensions, here goes. The Mini measures 19 cm by 13 cm, the Small goes up to 28 cm wide and 19 cm high, while the Medium is pretty sizable at 36.5 cm by 24.5 cm.
