Ladies, meet Bobby. No, he isn’t the eleventh Tinder date that you’ve met online during CB, but an all-new bag designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri for Fall 2020 that was launched across all Dior boutiques worldwide on 11 June 2020. Before diving into the bag proper, here’s a little fun fact. The bag is called Bobby because it is a subtle tribute to Monsieur Christian Dior’s pet pooch, one who has inspired precious designs ranging from haute couture creations to limited-edition perfume bottles.

On first impression, the Bobby Bag is your straightforward shoulder bag made available in materials like luscious box calfskin, as well as the timeless classic blue #DiorOblique canvas. Artisans select and shape the leather into various pieces before it’s assembled to form the half-moon shape of the bag. Next, the words ‘30 Montaigne’ is relief-embossed by hand, with the highlight of the bag being the CD logo clasp on the front leather flap. The bag opens via a magnetic clasp closure hidden beneath the buckle, a smart way of opening (and closing) without causing wear-and-tear to the leather strap, with finishing touches like hand-painted edges that give it a polished look and feel before the adjustable (and removable) strap is attached to the bag proper.

Available in 3 sizes, the Bobby Bag starts with the Small (SGD4600) that measures 18 cm by 14 cm, available in colours like Amber and Black in box calfskin, with a third option in blue #DiorOblique canvas. The Medium (SGD5200) is slightly wider and taller at 22 cm by 17 cm, coming in the same options as Small, plus additional colours like Latte in leather. Then there’s the Large (SGD5900), coming in at 27 cm wide by 19.5 cm high, available in a single option of Black leather with #DiorOblique canvas strap. All 3 sizes comes with their own shoulder strap (depending on leather or canvas), which just means you can wear it over the shoulder or across the body.
