Louis Vuitton Monogram Empreinte Boite Chapeau Souple MM

Love the Boite Chapeau Souple PM which you read about earlier this year? Well, the good news is that Louis Vuitton has recently introduced a new version in Damier Azur in the PM size, along with the one in luscious Monogram Empreinte leather for the larger MM that’s the subject of today’s post.

The perfectly round (well, almost) shape of the Hat Box gave rise to the modern-day interpretation known as the Boite Chapeau, one that forms an entire category of handbags created by the house’s Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière. Each bag comes with a flat-sided base so you don’t have to worry about it toppling over or rolling off the table. Also, they come with an accompanying shoulder strap which means you can always have it slung effortlessly across the body.

The choice of Monogram Empreinte leather is honestly genius for this Boite Chapeau variation, because the leather is known for its soft and supple qualities. You can fill the 22.5 cm by 20 cm bag with a good number of essentials without being restricted to a structured body that typically limits what you can carry.

The grained leather is also resistant to scratches and the occasional splash, which is great for those who aren’t fans of babying their handbags. If you’re looking for extra pockets, there’s a large one found within the bag, and an additional slot at the back for all your quick access needs.

Priced a tad higher than the versions in Monogram Canvas, the Monogram Empreinte comes in at SGD3900 each (ok, the price is also not bad given what other luxury houses are charging for full leather bags these days) and is currently available in colours like Creme and Noir. Love the Boite Chapeau but always wanted a version in grained leather? Well, you know what to do now.
