Virgil Abloh has taken the term ‘X marks the spot’ to a whole new level with the Fall-Winter 2019 Rainbow Taiga Danube Messenger, one that sports a giant rainbow X that’s stretched end to end, connecting all four corners of the bag, front and back. While the Danube family of bags is no stranger to you, returning in seasonal variations from time to time (Catogram, Monogram Upside Down Canvas, Supreme, just to name a few), there’s something different about this particular piece that makes for the perfect addition to your extensive Louis Vuitton collection.
Unlike its predecessors, the all-new Danube Messenger comes furnished with the flower rivets and chain detailing right in front, one that links to the top zip closure, and is rendered in a matte black hardware that’s done in true Abloh style. It also comes in a slim profile that measures 16 cm high and 12 cm wide, which will fit several day-to-day essentials like a compact cardholder and mini wallet, along with a pack of mints and a tiny lip balm to boot. Armed with a shoulder strap that has a drop length of approximately 55 cm to 60 cm (depending on how you adjust it), you can easily sling the bag comfortably over the shoulder or across your body as you deem fit.
And for the first time ever, the Danube Messenger comes in Taiga leather, a material that’s known for its resistance to scratches while staying lightweight in nature. Priced at SGD3350, you will be able to find the bag available at Louis Vuitton boutiques in Singapore, along with other goodies from Virgil Abloh’s Fall-Winter 2019 collection that’s officially launched on 12 July 2019 across the island.
