If you’re looking for a modern interpretation of a true Coach classic, the Riley Crossbody would be it. You can even say that the design is an adaptation of the Penny Pocket; just Google ‘Coach vintage Penny Pocket’ and you would see bags with similarities in terms of the rectangular silhouette, down to the placement of Coach’s signature turnlock closure right in front.

What sets the Riley Crossbody apart from its predecessor has got to be its updated boxy structure. It comes with L-shaped corners that allow it to stand upright on its own, with a rigid structure that will not slouch over time. The#CoachSignature canvas is another plus point, one that’s given a coated finish to withstand scratches and droplets of water, finished with a smooth leather on the underside to give it additional support and structure. Top it off with a hand-drawn Rexy graffiti illustration by Guang Yu, and you’ve got a winning combination that’s perfect for the contemporary individual.

Function wise, the Riley Crossbody opens to 3 accordion-like compartments, which will keep all your daily essentials neatly organised within. There’s even a zipped pocket in the middle for extra security and a single card slot at the back for a credit card or two. Measuring 25 cm by 15 cm, the bag comes in a pretty handy size that’s great for day and night, furnished with an adjustable (and detachable) 56 cm shoulder strap that you can sling easily over the shoulder or across the body.

Priced at SGD895, it is part of Coach’s Pre-Fall 2019 collection and should be available in the boutiques real soon, along with several other bags that feature illustrations by contemporary Chinese creatives like Sui Jianguo, YETI OUT and Zhu Jingyi. #staytuned
