If you previously missed visiting Chanel’s 'Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto' exhibition in Paris, Melbourne, Tokyo or London, then here’s some good news. The exhibition dedicated to the life and work of the pioneering designer is headed to Shanghai later this year. Part of its international tour, here’s another chance for you to catch it in person.
Co-organised by Palais Galliera, Paris Musées and Power Station of Art with the support of Chanel, the comprehensive installation isn’t just a rare opportunity to take in the entire span of her career. The incredible retrospective also charts the birth and evolution of her style, the emergence of her codes and her contribution to the history of fashion, all of which continue to influence how women dress today.
Expect hundreds of looks, including archival pieces, as well as a selection of accessories, jewellery and fragrances. These are organised chronologically starting from the beginning of her career and the opening of her first boutique in the 1910s. All the way to her final collection to grace the world in 1971.
Can’t wait to deep-dive into the life and career of one of the world’s most famous designers? The 'Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto' exhibition will run at Shanghai’s Power Station of Art from 12 July to 24 November 2024. In other words, time to start making your travel plans.
