Louis Vuitton’s Artycapucines capsule needs little introduction, after serving as a platform for creatives to design their version of the Capucines handbag since 2019. For its fifth chapter this year, the maison ropes in five contemporary artists: Billie Zangewa, Ewa Juszkiewicz, Liza Lou, Tursic & Mille and Ziping Wang.

Billie Zangewa’s Artycapucines takes artworks like The Swimming Lesson into a new dimension. It features a mix of trompe-l’oeil printing, intricate embroidery and hand-stitched elements in its craft. Next, a surrealistic take is evident in Ewa Juszkiewicz’s Ginger Locks, complete with extra golden pearls for a quirky touch.

Then beadwork techniques rise to new heights in Liza Lou’s Artycapucines, featuring a mix of textural beads embossed into leather. Artistic duo Tursic & Mille transform their 2021 painting Tenderness into a flower-shaped Artycapucines frame, complete with a cedar wood handle.

Finally, a miniature handbag with unique leather patchwork and marquetry in vibrant colours and motifs completes the lineup. Ziping Wang’s rendition of the Artycapucines truly creates a visual feast for the senses.

Limited to just 200 pieces, the 2023 collection comprises avant-garde works of art that expresses the individual artist’s identity. Each Artycapucines will come in a specially designed box, with the worldwide launch slated for 12 October 2023, including Singapore.
