Bigger Is Better With The Balenciaga Monaco Bag

Move over, mini bags. Balenciaga is going big for Fall-Winter 2023 with the launch of the Monaco.

Bigger is clearly better when it comes to this voluminous creation. It comes in the signature Arena calfskin known for its supple feel and crinkly, worn-in look, paired with aged-gold hardware.

Versatility is also key with this large purse. You can either grasp it in hand or wear it across the body via the accompanying thick chain strap. Taking pride of place atop the foldover flap is a double-B logo that also doubles as the bag’s closure.

These details are apparent across three sizes, small (SGD3550), medium (SGD3950) and large (SGD5250). They measure 28 cm by 18 cm, 32 cm by 22 cm and 43 cm by 12.6 cm respectively.

Also available is a fourth variation in quilted calfskin. This seasonal iteration of the Monaco gets a puffy treatment and aged-silver hardware. To mark this new release, Balenciaga has customised a special display to showcase different ways of carrying (and using) the oversized bag.

It debuts at Balenciaga’s newest accessories boutique in Paris’ Galeries Lafayette, before dropping at international locations like the Balenciaga boutique in Marina Bay Sands from mid-September 2023.
