In the blink of an eye, Celine’s Triomphe is celebrating its 5th anniversary this year. The now-iconic signature debuted in 2018 as one of the first flap bags Hedi Slimane designed when he took the creative helm at the French fashion house.

With clean lines and minimal aesthetic, the Triomphe bag was a true classic from the get-go. Inspired by an archival design, the flap bag showcased an oversized Triomphe clasp in gold-tone hardware for Spring-Summer 2019.

The motif was the creation of founder Céline Vipiana, in homage to the chains encircling the Arc de Triomphe.

2019 saw the Triomphe bag debut in three sizes, Teen, Small and Medium. Famously spotted on Blackpink’s Lisa, a variety of colours were available in both shiny and natural calfskin leather. 2020 saw variations in a mix of textile and leather, the introduction of silver-tone hardware, as well as a fourth size in large.

In 2021, Celine started introducing monogrammed options. It was also then that the new style known as the Triomphe Shoulder Bag entered the line-up. Its compact body, complete with a thin shoulder sling, was perfect for wearing casually under the arm.

Next came a shoulder bag featuring a chain sling instead of leather. There was also the Teen Besace Triomphe, a curvaceous new offering that launched in 2022. Last year also saw the introduction of the Mini Triomphe, its adorable proportions quickly turning it into a staple of the Triomphe family.

An icon that’s here to stay, you’ll find a whole array of Triomphe bags now at Celine. With the logo extending onto a monogrammed motif, SLGs and fancy accessories, as well as a whole range of covetable lifestyle pieces, it has undoubtedly become a true signature of the French fashion house.
