Watch aficionados were left wondering what exactly happened to the 5711/1A when Patek Philippe discontinued it in 2021. But the answer is pretty clear with the official announcement of the brand-new reference in October 2022. It’s time to enter a new era with the Swiss luxury watchmaker, as it unveils a refreshing update to the iconic Nautilus with the 5811/1G timepiece.

Consider it an evolution of the legendary watch. It now comes in full white gold (hence the ‘G’), instead of the steel on the retired Nautilus 5711/1A. The new 5811/1G also sports a bigger case, going upwards from 40 to 41 mm that will sit nicely on most wrists. Most importantly, the much-loved classic blue sunburst dial with black gradation returns, now water-resistant up to 120 metres.

Further subtle adjustments include the two-part case as a nod to the original 1976 ‘jumbo’ Nautilus. The reworked construction means that wearers now access the movement on the side of the dial in place of the split-stem method. Comfort is also key with the 5811/1G, evident in the patented fold-over bracelet clasp. Its new lockable system further allows for easy adjustments.

Powering this timepiece is the self-winding Caliber 26-330 S C that’s visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. Its 21K gold central rotor sports the hallmark Patek Philippe seal. Overall, the 5811/1G has classic good looks that still rank high on desirability, possibly made even more precious with the full white gold case and bracelet.

The suggested retail price for the Patek Philippe 5811/1G stands at SGD92,000. Simply head over to one of nine authorised retailers (Cortina, Emperor & The Hour Glass, for example) in Singapore to find out more.
