It’s rather un-bee-lievable how Loewe (or rather, Jonathan Anderson as Creative Director) consistently thinks out of the box when it comes to the design process for some of its fashionable handbags. There are elephant-themed leather goods in various styles from miniature bags to larger carryalls, as well as seashell SLGs from the ongoing Paula’s Ibiza collaboration.
And then you have this new dome-shaped design which is as quirky as it is intriguing.
After numerous launches of the evergreen basket tote, the Spanish fashion house has opted for a more bee-guiling twist this season, aptly naming it the Beehive Basket bag.
Measuring 20 cm wide and 17 cm high, this chic little bucket bag comes fitted with an inner drawstring pouch to house all your bits and bobs. Take note that the latter isn’t removable, so you don’t have to worry about it accidentally falling out whenever you’re out and about with the beehive of a bag.
Now, if you’re a firm believer in the little details, you’ll appreciate the calfskin shoulder strap that’s carefully woven through the bag, giving it extra strength guaranteed to weather the test of time. Even the calfskin Anagram cut-out is carefully embroidered onto the raffia body, adding extra visual interest in front with its oversized format.
Aside from the classic Natural/Tan combination, Loewe has also created a second version in Natural/Black with a unique dégradé effect. Retailing at SGD1450 and SGD1500 respectively, both pieces have just arrived at Loewe Singapore’s online store.
Grown a little tired of the basic basket tote? You can always bee (pun intended) a little different by opting for this fun beehive-shaped bag.
