Just when you thought that you had seen it all as far as Moynat’s Flori was concerned, they are back with yet another new rendition of the icon from the French bag- and trunk-maker. Besides options in smooth Box leather to the ultra-luxe Natural calfskin leather, Moynat has pulled out all the stops with the exquisite Flori Escapade that will be made in extremely limited quantities, with the top flap of the bag and the body (or bottom) of the bag to be crafted from two completely different materials.
On the top, expect a flap crafted from natural cowhide leather in Rose Pâle, finished with a full beige wicker body for a unique combination like no other. The sensual curves is what gives the Flori its appeal, and you can only imagine how difficult it is to replicate this effect with a stiffer material like wicker. Not only do the artisans have to weave the rattan into a sturdy and symmetrical pattern, but they also have to manually work the wicker to get it to adhere to its curved shape.
That alone is why the bags can only be obtained through a special order, with a lead time of approximately 6 to 8 months for them to be crafted from scratch, and then sent over to wherever you might be. The good news? Moynat’s Singapore boutiques are still taking orders for the Flori Escapade (SGD9700), and you can get on the list by visiting either boutique at Marina Bay Sands or Takashimaya Shopping Centre.
As far as the bag’s dimensions go, they are the same as the Flori PM, measuring 20 cm by 19 cm if you need a recap of the size. Finished with gold hardware and tone-on-tone straps (a long shoulder option and a short top handle), the Flori Escapade is truly made for those who love the bag and want something extra special as well.
