Dior’s Caro Now Comes With Macro-Cannage Quilted-Effect Stitching

It’s pretty amazing how a slight twist in design can change the entire look of a handbag. Take the Dior Caro, for example, one that originally came with the simplified Cannage stitching in supple calfskin for the first few versions launched last year. Over time, Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri introduced alternative materials like denim fabrics and patent leather, but none of them made quite an impact as these new-in pieces that feature the ‘OG’ Macro-Cannage quilted-effect stitching.

Yes, this ‘puffy’ finish has its roots dating back to the Lady Dior of the 90s, and it has grown to become a signature motif at Dior in recent years. The quilted effect adds a whole new dimension to the Caro, giving it a pillow-like structure that makes you want to reach out and give it a tight squeeze. And with 3 sizes for you to fall in love with, you can start with the small that measures 20 cm wide and 12 cm high. The medium is slightly bigger (and thus, roomier) at 25 cm by 12 cm, while the large one stands at a whopping 28 cm by 17 cm, which is more than enough for a day out with the girls and then some.

Each bag will be sold together with a chain shoulder strap that’s finished with the ‘Christian Dior’ military-inspired buckle which allows you to adjust it to 5 different lengths for various ways of carrying. You can also remove the strap altogether by unfastening the ‘CD’ signature links, converting the puffy crossbody bag into a clutch if that’s the look you prefer.

The twist clasp (inspired by the seal on an iconic perfume bottle) remains a key element in front, coming in ruthenium hardware that matches perfectly with the BlackSteel Blue and Steel Grey colours on the Macro-Cannage quilted calfskin. Priced at SGD5600, SGD6100 and SGD6700 respectively for the 3 different sizes, the new Dior Caro is now available in Singapore, though you have to check directly with the boutiques on the exact availability of colours.
