To call this just your regular trunk would be a bit of an understatement, especially when you think about the thought process and technical craftsmanship that goes into this objet d’art. A show-stopper in every sense of the word, this ‘trunk’ is made completely out of glass before it’s finished with palladium (yes, real palladium) corners. Top it all off with the classic VVN handle on top, and you can truly say that the 26 cm by 25.5 cm by 17 cm Malle Jardin (SGD50,500) pays homage to Louis Vuitton’s heritage when they started as a trunk maker back in 1854.
Sold together with a perspex tray, it is intended for you to use it as a terrarium, complete with a cut-out lid for ventilation. And after you are done landscaping it with the rarest of philodendrons or maybe a variegated billietiae, the end result is a mini garden and definite conversation starter, one which you can display right in the heart of your living room.
And if you must know, this is the very first time that Louis Vuitton has explored the idea and created a trunk that replaces the conventional wooden structure with glass, making this a truly unique creation that reinforces the French luxury house’s unique expertise to constantly innovate pieces that push the boundaries of traditional trunk-making norms.
