It has been well over 2 years since Dior unveiled its beloved Book Tote at its Spring-Summer 2018 show during Paris Fashion Week, and the bag has officially earned its status as one of the most popular silhouettes ever created at the house, all thanks to the luxury brand’s Creative Director, Maria Grazia Chiuri. Having achieved commercial success overnight, it has also created ultra-long waitlists just for fans to get their hands on one.

Over the seasons, the bag has been made available in several variations, from plain leather versions to pieces that come in suede/calfskin leather marquetry. The designs in canvas aren’t just limited to the standard colours in #DiorOblique; they are now also rendered in denim and others like the floral-inspired Toile de Jouy, leaving one spoilt for choice.

While the price has since increased almost 1.5 x since it was made available for sale in 2018 (in other words, get it now before it rises again), the Book Tote in the standard #DiorOblique has completely sold out in Singapore. You will have to place a 50% deposit and join the queue in order to secure a piece. That said, Singapore has also begun taking in orders for both the Mini and Small, which will be progressively launched in the months to come. The Mini Book Tote (SGD2800) is the cutest of the lot, measuring 24 cm by 22.5 cm and great for storing two mandarin oranges, along with a good number of red packets for the upcoming Lunar New Year. The next size up would be the Small Book Tote (SGD3700), an elusive size that was previously only made available in Europe and Japan when it was launched back in 2019. This one measures 36.5 cm by 28 cm, which will fit a 13″ MacBook along with several other essentials like A4 documents and files.

The biggest of the trio would be the original size that’s simply referred to as the Book Tote. Priced from SGD3900, this one comes in at 41.5 cm by 35 cm and pretty much functions as a great weekend carryall to the gym or the beach. It’s also the perfectly sized carry-on luggage as it’s guaranteed to hold loads within. If you love the original size but are looking out for the versions in leather, the plain ones will come in at SGD4700, while the pieces with embossed #DiorOblique calfskin are priced a tad higher at SGD5300. #happyshopping
