Dior: Meet The New Dior 30 Montaigne

Dior has pretty much gotten the right formula when it comes to creating bags for every (and any) occasion. There’s the Book Tote, which comes in various sizes ranging from the Mini to the Regular that’s the very embodiment of casual elegance, while those looking for an eye-catching statement piece will opt for the #DiorSaddle, an evergreen icon of the house that’s reinvented season after season in various materials and prints. And the subject of today’s post? The recently updated 30 Montaigne, which seems to be the answer for those of you looking for the perfect flap bag from Dior.

Named after the luxury house’s iconic address on 30 Avenue Montaigne (flip it around and you will find 30 MONTAIGNE embossed on the back), it comes with an oversized CD clasp that sets the tone right in front. While it was previously introduced in a single size that featured a full leather strap, the new introductions are slightly different in terms of looks and function.

The most obvious change would have to be the gorgeous chain-and-leather strap, which makes it easier to slide up (extended fully) and down (looped twice) depending on the style you prefer. Zoom in closely and you will also notice a slight change in terms of the CD clasp. Previous versions opened by way of lifting the vertical I right in the middle, but several designs in the Cruise 2020 collection come with a hook clasp (inspired by the seal of a vintage Christian Dior perfume bottle), which unlocks by rotating it anti-clockwise.

No word on when the phoenix printed versions from Cruise 2020 will be landing in stores, but the ones in solid colours are currently available in Black and Chalk White over at Dior boutiques in Singapore. You might find them priced a tad higher at SGD6200 each, but this is due to the fact that the versions above come with threaded edges for a unique touch that provides for an extra bit of visual interest, making it stand out from the existing pieces in the classic line-up of 30 Montaigne bags.
