Contrary to popular belief that designer brands and their accompanying retail concepts under the creative direction of Hedi Slimane must carry an aesthetic of black and white minimalism, you will find that this is not exactly the case for Celine’s all-new store concept that was recently unveiled by the French luxury house.
The all-new flagship boutique at New York’s Madison Avenue (also the world’s largest Celine store which will retail both men’s and women’s collections), for example, comes with an interesting juxtaposition of brass, concrete and gold mirrors, along with polished stainless steel that’s warmed up with natural stone, reclaimed oak, plush leather and wood chairs that balance all that starkness. Expect to find specially designed furniture (by Hedi himself, no less) along with contemporary artwork that will be up on display at specific flagships.
Following the opening of the New York Madison Avenue store, Hong Kong will also be opening a standalone men’s store on 25 February 2019 at Landmark, one that will feature a similar treatment in terms of store design and retail concept.
