Jacquemus Le Gadjo

Simon Porte Jacquemus unveiled his Spring-Summer 2019 collection for men on a sunny beach in France, featuring contemporary RTW pieces and accessories, with the highlight of the show being the square leather wallet that hung off the necks of the male models. Incidentally, the wallet is named Le Gadjo, which is also the name of Jacquemus’ debut menswear collection, a Romani term that’s used to describe a boy or guy.

The concept of hanging leather SLGs around the neck isn’t an entirely new concept for the Jacquemus label. The womens’ collection featured models coming down the runway with bags like the Le Pitchou, or the Le Pequeno draped casually in front, both of which have seen its fair share of commercial success. If, however, you prefer a structured piece that comes without all that excess fringe, the Le Gadjo would be it.

Measuring 13.3 cm by 11.4 cm, it’s essentially a leather wallet that unzips to reveal several slots on the interior for your notes and coins, finished with the silver lettering logo in front and an accompanying neck strap. Priced from USD372, you will be able to find the Le Gadjo in colours like Beige, Black, Blue, Light Blue, Red, White or Yellow available at Jacquemus’ online store, one that also offers international shipping to Singapore. In other words, whether you’re a boy or a girl, this could be the only thing you need when you’re frolicking on Sentosa.
