Louis Vuitton has certainly been making waves of late, with Virgil Abloh now at the helm of the mens universe, making his debut for the brand several weeks back. And Nicolas Ghesquière is quite literally making waves with an all-new bag collection for the ladies known as the New Wave.

Featuring a wavy quilted pattern, with a curved base that allows the bag to sit upright on its own, giving it an added visual interest. Trunks from the archives have always lent themselves as an inspiration for Louis Vuitton’s leather goods, and a particular graphic piece that was decorated with a multicoloured motif was the key inspiration behind the New Wave, evident in the rainbow-coloured Vuitton words (on the top) flanked by two monogram flower logos on either side.

The New Wave bags come in a soft, supple lambskin and is available in two main silhouettes. The first is the Chain Bag which comes in two sizes, a PM (SGD3100) and MM (SGD3500), a versatile shape that can be carried in a multitude of ways. Wear it over the shoulder, across the body, or double the chains up and have it sit nicely under the arm. The second, a bigger version known as the Chain Tote (SGD3850), is one that’s actually a great piece for work considering it comes in a trapezoid shape that’s roomy enough at the base for all your daily essentials. Cute, charming and a total mood uplifter, the New Wave family of bags come in exciting new colours that include Ecariate (Red), Malibu Green, Smoothie Pink, Snow (White), as well as the staple Noir (Black) for those looking for something safe.
